Temporary Middle East Surcharge | FAQs

1. What is the Middle East Surcharge?

Due to ongoing instability in the Middle East, global shipping routes and raw material supplies have been significantly disrupted. To maintain our service levels and product quality, we have implemented a temporary 3.5% (+GST) surcharge on all orders effective Monday, 13 April 2026.

2. Why is this a temporary surcharge instead of a permanent price increase?

We believe in transparency.
By applying this as a temporary surcharge rather than a standard price hike, we can:

  • Track specific impact: Clearly distinguish between our core product costs and external geopolitical factors.
  • Maintain flexibility: Easily adjust or remove the fee as soon as market conditions improve, without needing to overhaul our entire price list.

3. What specific costs have changed?

The global logistics landscape has shifted rapidly. Key factors influencing this surcharge include:

  • Raw Materials: Increases of up to 25% for essential manufacturing components.
  • Freight & Fuel: A 10% rise in international freight and a doubling of fuel adjustment factors from NZ transport providers.
  • Third-Party Costs: Increased levies from local service providers ranging from flat fees to 12.5% per order.

4. Does this apply to all products?

Yes. Because the disruption affects the entire supply chain—including fuel for local delivery and raw materials for manufacturing—the 3.5% surcharge applies to all orders across our imported and locally manufactured ranges.

5. When will the temporary surcharge be removed?

While we cannot predict the exact timeline of global events, we are monitoring the situation closely. Our goal is to reduce or remove the surcharge as soon as carrier costs and raw material prices return to stable levels.

6. Will I be notified before the temporary surcharge changes?

Yes. Any adjustments to the temporary surcharge—whether a reduction or removal—will be updated on this page and communicated with 7 days notice.

7. Who can I speak to if I have more questions?

We value your partnership. If you have specific questions regarding an upcoming order or how these costs affect your account, please contact our sales team at sales@idas.co.nz
